Vessel 36
Introduction:
Vessel 36 is a surrealist, psychological horror game with Lovecraftian themes. We are currently developing it using UDK. Its story and concepts have gone through many phases over the past four years. We've recently perfected our idea for this project and have begun early development. We hope to bring you a terrifying horror experience with a thought provoking storyline.
Gameplay:
The gameplay in Vessel 36 is planned to focus on exploration with occasional puzzle solving. There will be an involved, interactive map and journal system for the player to track their information as they traverse the game's surreal and inconsistent world.
Enemy encounters will be contained to unique events and set pieces rather than being used as common monsters as in most games. We feel the concept of a common enemy is counter-productive when creating a game based around fear of the unknown.
Story:
Vessel 36 is about a man named Michael. He returns home to find his wife murdered in their bedroom. He wakes up one week after this event in a strange motel in an unknown town. With no memory of the time that has passed, Michael finds a diary he apparently wrote during that week. It contains information on the murderer, a man named Bentley, and his whereabouts. Using this information, Michael takes it upon himself to track Bentley down.
Characters:
Michael – The protagonist. Michael is an English professor at a local Pennsylvanian college.
Michelle – Michael's wife.
Bentley – A strange and erratic man. The murderer of Michael's wife.
Ralph – An extremely anxious and shy man. Michael's closest friend whom he has lost contact with over the past few years.
Kurt - An acquaintance of Ralph's who becomes a rude but mysterious informant for Michael.
